Roy Ayers FIX

I'm all over this track. Thanks to Dj Day I found his blog Like a Throttle this morning and stumbled across some Roy Ayers. Ooooooh weee I love me some Roy!!!

Indulge in this delectable mind strawberrydippedNhoneytreat I Am Your Mind pt. 2 on
Virgin Ubiquity II Unreleased recordings 1976-1981 (2005).

If you believe in yourself
You’ll know the real you
It’s coming from within
Sincerely, sincerely

You subject yourself to being vulnerable
Not knowing why you fall in love
And so you become
What you are made to become
It’s not at all fair that I feel as I do
Tell me something to make me feel better

My sister, I am your mind. Within you there’s a never-ending magnitude of infinite strength, wisdom and will. You travel my roads through life never knowing your own true reality because my thoughts remain like distant quasars. You abuse me by never letting me say and do as I feel. Our thoughts split from love affairs to choice of friends. We argue like two enemies yet we are good friends.

Now, there are moments when we harmonize with each other, and become one with nature and reality. But these times are few. When after you have replenished yourself, the fear of the truth sets in. We split, and you start to run again. Running, running, running. Running through women, men, jobs, people and life looking for the answer when I had it all along. But I smile… because I am your mind.

I was your mind yesterday; I am your mind today; and I’ll be your mind tomorrow. And as our end draws near we will become closer. But you and I, you and I, we will never be one, for I will part from you and you will part from me; you finding another mind and I another soul. And we’ll travel on and on.

By the way, I need more than sex to nourish my equilibrium. But I do need sex. I also need sun, trees, stars, creativity and love. But you saturate my soul with too much of one and not enough of the other. Therefore I cry. But why do we cry? Because tears cleanse the windows of our minds. I am your mind.

Tell me something to make me feel better

All your thoughts inside your mind wanting to be free

Well, now you’ve got the chance to let your mind grow… and be free. Because the music is just trying to say things to free your mind. And if you let your mind be free, then you can understand mine. There’s no need to be afraid of me. I want to be your friend. I’m just trying to give you music from deep, deep, deep within.

And on and on, and on and on

Tell me something to make me feel better

All of your dreams can become reality. My dial reaches full, but you’ve only been turning me halfway. Turn me up, and alpha and theta waves will spew from your pores. Knowledge, peace, happiness and prosperity will be placed at your feet. Let’s, let’s create. Solve. Love. Accomplish. And unify. As-Salaam-Alaikum.

MEDITATION

Sleep my love
Don't you worry
You just sleep my love
And I'll stroke your hair
Oh the sunlight on your face
As the day begins to break

When you wake
And your smile meets mine ah
My day begins
You're my inspiration
Seeing your face glow
Is the nicest of hellos

Five till noon
You sneak up from behind
Kiss and caress me
Make love to my mind
A whisper and kiss from you
Warms my heart
Means so much
Making love our way
Begins early in the day

You walk in the room
In a sunset sort of room
My emotions light up
'Cause of you
Now that evening's come
We're dressed for us my love
Wine and candles puts us in a sexy mood

That's when we get to it
Close our eyes
Feel our way though it
I can't wait to groove ya
'Cause you sure know how to move it
You've made love to my mind
Now you gotta take me from behind
Just like in the movies
When the action begins

Let's put on a show (Can't you feel it)
And we'll take it nice and slow (Can't you feel it)
Oh here we go (Can't you feel it)
Tell me do you want the blindfold (Can't you feel it)
Tell me what you like (Can't you feel it)
Baby should I do it once or twice (Can't you feel it)
I know that we've getting' naughty (Can't you feel it)
But I know you like it like that

Now that we felt this warm explosion
I know you're satisfied (I know you're satisfied)
I see it in your eyes (I see it in your eyes)
Relax be still my love (Still my love)
Let your heart slow down (Heart slow down)
'Cause I'm not through my dear
Don't stop
Remember twenty foreplay

Can you feel it twenty foreplay
I need it twenty foreplay
I need it twenty foreplay
You know I need it
Yes I need it
24 hours a day
Can you feel it
24 hours a day
Can you feel it
Twenty foreplay
Not yet

Its not what you say
Before we start to play
It's what you say after
That makes me want to stay

lyrics from Ms. Jackson

Its time to light the aroma candles and turn off the lights deep SILENCE & BREATHE.

LoveLesson: The LoveMint Collection

"The LoveMint Collection is the way love was meant to be" a DenaKali clothing style designed for peace, love and strength. A self expression clothing line that represents the gift to you. We were all placed on this earth without limits and with the power of the Spirit. This line is designed for ME, to express myself, my dreams, and give the gift of LOVE to others.

You will be able to "taste the peace" once production is back up and running. The LoveMint Collection is a special project of my own and I don't want to rush. It took time to heal my wounds that developed the inspiration for this clothing line.

There is more...I've created a collection of music playlist titled LoveLesson which includes 3 parts.
Parts 1 and parts 2 are featured on this blog. The last tasty installment has arrived. I hope you enjoy this LoveMint just as much as that very first BITE!

"Q-TIP For President"

NEW Mixtape 'Q-TIP For President' by J. Period, famed mixtape deejay who has a resume of artist which include Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill, The Roots, Alicia Keys and Kanye West.

"It's funny, but even after working with Lauryn Hill, Mary J Blige, The Roots and other Hip Hop legends, I don't think I've ever been more excited about doing a mixtape project with an artist," prefaced Brooklyn deejay J. Period, speaking with HipHopDX Monday. "Q-Tip was probably my favorite emcee coming up and I really admire the depth and range of his talent and creativity. It's also a testament to Tip that the mere mention of his name has brought out a who's who of artists - Questo, Kweli, Common, Pharrell, Black Thought, Consequence, Skillz, Bentley, even young cats like Blu - all of whom are as eager as I am to support Tip in his latest venture, and contribute to the mixtape."

The theme of this mixtape furthered J. Period's reputation for building excellent promotion to artists' album work. "'Q-Tip for President' was an idea I had because it seemed to fit the vibe and timing of Tip's new album. It comes out on Election Day, the theme is "rebirth" (aka "renaissance") and the vibe of bringing back a classic with a new message just seemed to fit... I hope it helps spread the word about his album, and I'm looking forward to putting the finishing touches on the mixtape which drops in December!"

The first single is the aforementioned 'Q-Tip For President' take a listen or download on www.myspace.com/jperiod

Sugar Shack HONEY TREAT: Brittany Bosco

I got a chance to connect with music recording artist Brittany Bosco recently. I must say she is my “FunkyJazzBluSoulSista” her music speaks many voices and her talent is undeniable she has proven her skill on her latest EP Spectrum and she is most definitely a Sugar Shack honey treat. For me I'm just a lover...I love music. I love art. I love fashion. Brittany Bosco has it all! It speaks throughout her songs, videos, and photos.

I was able to ask a few questions just to get to know about Brittany and some of the influences in her life in creating such a spectacular album. I wish her much continued success and peace and many many blessings throughout her journey. Big Up to Atlanta and the movement growing out of that area.

It was a true pleasure connecting with Brittany. Visit her myspace page @ http://www.myspace.com/brittanybosco and be on the lookout for Spectrum. After listening to the album I really liked the song ‘Glitch’ here is a taste of what of you can expect from this beautiful sista while you get to know Ms. Bosco. Support the MOVEMENT!

SS: Tell me who Brittany Bosco is.
BB: Brittany Bosco is a down to earth, goofy-blonde, spontaneous, fun, loving girl, who lives for the moment, take chances, loves fashion, who happens to do music.

SS: Favorite Artist. (Pick one) How does this artist music make you feel? What do you taste when the music comes on? How do you respond?
BB: I hate just picking ONE ARTIST because everyone inspires me, but if I have to pick one so be it, it'll be Sarah Vaughn I've learned so much from her as an artist and a vocalist. When I hear her sing I wanna cry her voice is so beautiful and the way she carries her notes. I get excited just talking about her. She was a very skillful vocalist and disciplined. Her presence on a song was unexplainable and she never compromised. That brings me to think of Nina Simone her voice was undeniable also, she was a very powerful woman who command the presence of people when she opened her mouth and I strive to be like woman of this caliber.

SS: Tell me about the fam The Big Up and how its ties into Brittany's life.
BB: The Big Up is essentially a group of creators. The foundation of our group, our unit, our collective is built upon the strength of our friendship. Our common bond just so happens to be our passion for creating and our vision for the future of the music and art that we create. The Big Up began first with a group of like-minded friends who met at the Savannah College of Art and Design. The Big Up began as an idea in Savannah and we decided to bring our dreams to fruition in Atlanta. We've all had ties through the music we make, our interests, and our goals and decided to make our dreams a reality.

Alex Goose, Danny Swain, Lloyd Harold, Branden Collins, and I met at SCAD and gradually our relationships and friends grew as well as our ambition to pursue our dreams collectively. Alex Goose, a phenomenal producer and graphic designer, has always had a clear vision of what The Big Up stands for. His idea, "Simple, clean, and smart design will never go out of style" has become the foundation of The Big Up as a music and design collective. The ideals that we have for graphic design, visual arts, and fashion design are concurrent with our ideals for music. Danny Swain, a producer, MC, graphic designer has accumulated multiple accolades throughout his musical career. Danny's eclectic taste in music is evident throughout his discography of progressive hip-hop albums. Danny's latest album, "And I Love H.E.R", features me, Branden, Lloyd, and Alex Goose. Lloyd Harold, a graphic designer, engineer, MC, and producer mixed and mastered my first E.P. "City of Nowhere". Lloyd played a vital role in the production, and sound of my first E.P. and is a mainstay in the Savannah music scene and has gained a substantial amount of success with his latest mix-tape, "The Real". Branden Collins, graphic and art designer, plays a very pivotal part in "The Big Up", who works very closely with every aspect of our movement from vocal direction and instrumentation to conceptual art for packaging and marketing(with posters and fliers). His works demonstrates the true essences of emotional driven art, by his concepts and vision of the body of work produced for "The Big Up". Branden is an artist first, with the ability to work with any medium therefore connecting well with my vision as an artist and to the consumer. As we all slowly made our move to Atlanta (aside from Lloyd) we met Omar Ferrer, an amazingly talented musician, musical director and producer. Omar has since played an integral part in the development of the "Spectrum" E.P. and my development as a vocalist and performer.

Every person in The Big Up collective share my ambitions, give me inspiration musically and in my everyday life. All of these professional bonds were built first on our strong connections as friends. We all live, love, and care for each other, our crafts and our abilities grow because of genuine relationships. These guys are my brothers, my extended family, what we share is incomparable, I've grown to learn and know them as people first. That's what makes "The Big Up" so beautiful. I work with people I love and there nothing in the world I wouldn't do for them. We shared life and life is beautiful, they are my best friends!!!! Simply put.

SS: Tell me about Spectrum. What things inspired you during the process of this album?
BB: Spectrum is a year's worth of work off and on. I started Spectrum with the "8-trak" and then "Glitch" and before I knew it I was developing my second E.P. Many people played a part in the process of "Spectrum", from the members of "the big up", to many life experiences and heartaches. So many know I write directly from me life onto paper into music. This E.P. shows my vocal ability and range in genres I can tap into, this project really pushed me as an artist, because no track sounds the same and that’s where the name "spectrum" came from. Spectrum is defined as broad range of varied but related ideas or objects, the individual features of which tend to overlap so as to form a continuous series or sequence, and I used this and transferred and related it to music. I want this E.P. to reach every demographic, no one could be left out; there's something for everybody in this project. Something that real blessed me is that I had a lady at least 50 or older come and by a cd from me not one but two. I was really touched because this day and age people that age don’t give artist like me a chance but I had something to say and she received me. I was researching a lot of music during this process and blues, jazz, funk, alternative, experimental, EVERYTHING. So I took what I learned and put Brittany Bosco on it and developed my own little sound and nurtured it to my liking!

SS: What do you want Brittany Bosco listeners to receive from listening to your music?
BB: I want my music to be an experience, I want to take the listener on a journey and spectrum does that from the opening track to the last. I take you from funk to hip-hop to experimental to jazz, to emotion music because "black and white" does not fit into a GENRE because it’s simply an emotion. A sense of refreshing should take place when listening to my music; I can honestly say that my movement doesn’t sound like any particular person.

SS: Favorite song on new album. How does it make you feel?
BB: Glitch, this song is in total character, so I can’t tell you how I feel because the person that performs this song isn’t the same person answering this questions...sounds crazy but true.

SS: What artist are you listening to right now?
BB: Beck: Modern Guilt

SS: How to support Brittany Bosco?
BB: Go buy "City of Nowhere" off iTunes Spectrum will be up soon for free downloading but you can buy a hardcopy soon...

**Bonus TREAT** 'Blues for Blue' by Brittany Bosco
